Nishimura Graphite’s History

  1. 1931

    Shigeru Nishimura, our company’s founder, establishes “Nishimura Shoten” in Minamihorie, Nishi-ku, Osaka as an export trading company dealing in graphite, manganese dioxide, carbon rods, and other battery materials for Asian countries.

  2. 1934

    A smelter plant for graphite and manganese dioxide is established in Niitaka, Yodogawa-ku, Osaka (present Head Office), and the company name is changed to “Nishimura Kokuen-Mangan Seirensyo” (Nishimura Graphite Manganese Refinery).

  3. 1943

    As the battery industry consolidates into a few major companies, Nishimura converts its plants to graphite smelting plants for other industries and begins producing graphite for casting.

  4. 1950

    The company is reorganized as a joint stock company and changes its name to “Nishimura Graphite Co., Ltd.”

  5. 1954

    The Hiroshima Field Office (present Hiroshima Branch) is established in Naka-ku, Hiroshima City.

  6. 1957

    The company develops “DIA COAT.” Japan’s first water-based mold coating agent for finished molds.

  7. 1960

    The company becomes a distributor of Sintokogio, Ltd. and begins selling and repairing molding machines (casters).

  8. 1964

    The Ibaraki Plant is established in Ibaraki, Osaka.
    The Nagoya Field Office (present Nagoya Branch) is established in Showa-ku, Nagoya.

  9. 1969

    The Hirakata Plant is established in Hirakata, Osaka, and the Home Office Plant and Ibaraki Plant are consolidated into the Hirakata Plant.

  10. 1975

    The company develops “TN COAT,” a mold coating agent for V-processes (vacuum-sealed molding processes).

  11. 1976

    Founder Shigeru Nishimura becomes chairman of the company, and Kyoji Nishimura assumes the presidency.

  12. 1981

    The company develops “RAMI GUARD,” a primer for preventing metal penetration.

    The company holds a ceremony to commemorate 50 years in business.

  13. 1986

    The company begins the producing and selling the “Sizinger” deburring machine.

  14. 1997

    The Tokyo Representative Office is established in Matsudo, Chiba.

  15. 1999

    The “Shigeru Nishimura Award” is established by the SOKEIZAI Center (Materials Process Technology Center).

  16. 2004

    The Manufacturing Division achieves ISO9001 certification for its quality management system.

  17. 2010

    The company is recognized as a “Strategic Foundational Technology Improvement Support Operation” by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

  18. 2011

    The company cancels its 80th anniversary celebration and donates to the areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake.

  19. 2015

    Kyoji Nishimura becomes the chairman of the company, and Satoshi Nishimura assumes the presidency.
